Finally rebooted with a restored boot disk Windows 10 re-activated automatically MR was recognized by Macrium and I did not have to invoke support contact.

My question is what are the steps I must perform and in what order in order to restore the last image of the old system to the newly rebuilt system so that I can just carry on without having to reinstall Windows. If this were any other system than the one I use for work I'd just reinstall everything, but I've got to be able to get back to work with as little downtime as possible, so this is very important to me.

Once you have registered the device PC or Mac that device is activated. If you move the licence to another device then the previous device will lose activation. These days windows can be installed on a PC or Mac hence the reason for the inclusion of Mac.
These type of licences are retail, purchased from Microsoft. If it was a system builder licence or pre-installed by the manufacturer of the device then that is OEM and not transferrable to another device.
A device as far as Windows 10 activation is concerned is the motherboard, as that is what is registered on Microsoft servers for activation.
